Synopsis:
Julia Hughes has always played it safe until she learned a very painful lesson. The de Vincent brothers share a massive fortune and a dark reputation. Julia cares for their troubled sister, but a menacing presence in the mansion—and the ever-present temptation of Lucian—prove dangerously distracting.

Lucian’s grandmother claimed de Vincent men fall in love once—and hard. Apparently, it’s Lucian’s turn. Julia’s compassionate care of his twin makes Lucian want to lay himself bare. But some secrets are better for Julia not to know.

The recent “suicide” of Lucian’s father is the latest in a string of deaths on the estate. Someone is eliminating the de Vincents. And the best way to get to Lucian may be through Julia...

REVIEW:
Look who's finally decided to post a review on this book? This idiot here.

It took quite the time to post it since it was the hardest review I've ever written. Also because I rated this book 4 stars and I'm about to say stuff that won't make sense regarding the rating but bare with me. Read the entire review and you'll understand.

So... Why FOUR stars and not less or more?
First of all, overall I did enjoy the book thus why I read it so fast but there were so many things that kinda disappointed me or left me feeling that it was too predictable.
It's quite difficult for me to hate a Jennifer L. Armentrout book because she's my favorite author (yes, I'm a bit biased) but I can still point out when something on her books pisses me off or I think didn't make any sense at all.

Once again - and I'm getting tired of having to bring this up - the hype ruined the book for me.
Okay, maybe not ruined... But I didn't love it as much as I could've if the freaking hype wasn't an a**hole.
I was expecting more. There's not much I can add to that. I just felt that something was missing, the romance didn't do it for me, the whole drama towards Lucian's sister was too predictable for me and the fact that Lucian didn't tell us everything about his past pissed me so damn much. For crying out loud, this book was about him and Julia and still a lot of things weren't answered.

My hopes for this book were like a roller coaster where the journey is 15% up and 85% down into hell. The beginning was quite awesome and it made fly through the pages but once I started reading more, that felling of awesomeness just dissipated. You could almost say that it kinda got a bit boring, I wanted more action, more drama, MORE romance. One moment Lucian and Julia have 0 feelings for each other and 2 seconds later... BAM, I love you

Putting aside what I said about Lucian earlier, I did love him. I think he was the best character in this book and I craved for the chapters in his POV.
I didn't connect at all with Julia and that made me sad because usually I connect with every single freaking character Jennifer creates.
I'm just praying to all the gods and entities out there that I love the second and thirst books in the de Vicent trilogy.

To clarify a bit more: I didn't hate the book but I also didn't love it. OVERALL (emphasis in that word) I enjoyed it but since Jennifer's my favorite author I'm almost expecting more and better from her thus why a lot of things weren't to my liking.
I hope now you understand why the 4 stars rating.

BOOK REVIEW: Brave (A Wicked Trilogy #3) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Brave by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Published date: 11 December, 2017
Genres: New Adult, Paranormal, Fantasy, Romance
Pages: 362
Format: Ebook
Rating: 5*
Synopsis:
Ivy Morgan hasn't been feeling like herself lately. Not like anyone can blame her. After all, being held captive by a psychotic fae prince hell-bent on permanently opening the gates to the Otherworld is bound to leave some mental scars.

It’s more than that, though. Something dark and insidious is spreading throughout Ivy, more powerful than she could ever imagine... and it’s coming between her and the man she’s fallen deeply in love with, elite Order member Ren Owens.

Ren would do anything to keep Ivy safe. Anything. But when he makes a life altering choice for her, the fallout of his act has far reaching consequences that threaten to tear their lives apart. If Ivy is going to have any hope of surviving this, she must put aside the hurt and betrayal she feels, and work with not only those she loves, but with an enemy she would rather kill than ever trust. War is coming, and it soon becomes clear that what Ivy and Ren thought they knew about the Order, themselves, and even their enemies, has been nothing but a cluster of dangerous, deadly lies. Ivy knows she must be more than just brave to save those she loves--and, ultimately, to save herself.

Because behind ever evil fae Prince, there’s a Queen…

REVIEW:
So... the ending of this trilogy comes upon us. Wicked, Torn and finally Brave. It took me a couple of days to write this review because, even right now, I'm not sure how to describe this book.
I went through so many feelings, just like a freaking huge roller coaster.

Jennifer L. Armentrout always, but freaking always leaves me amazed with her work. She's that good. I'm all caught up on her books, read them all, from her first to her latest published one and I don't know how she's able to do it but she just gets better and better from book to book. From each fictional world to another.

I recommend you all to first read Wicked and Torn and then you can read this review because I don't want you getting any hints of what happens here without having read the two other previous books.

Now let's get to the juicy stuff.
Brave.
One word. It's a guy. He's perfect and everyone loves him.
Ding! Ding! Ding!
If you said Ren you're one hundred percent right. There's not one thing that Ren could do wrongly. He's just the sweetest person and the way he truly loves Ivy just melts my heart.

Everyone loves Ren, duh, but everyone loves Tink. Who doesn't? He's just the epitome os sarcasm combined with adorableness and witty answers. Tink just makes his entire trilogy so much better and every time something comes out of is mouth it's almost impossible not to laugh.
I loved the fact that Jennifer gave Tink a new plaything and but that I mean so man meat, some hubby for him to have fun between the sheets. Tink freaking deserves an entire book dedicated to him
!

I wanted to point out some of the things I loved in this book but if I don't point every single thing I'll just feel like I'm leaving you guys without the entire juicy stuff. Freaking read the whole trilogy and fall in love with every single character. Hate some of those you loved and start loving some of the ones you hated.
This book will surprise the hell out of you just as it did with me.

I found myself saying holy lord so many times that the Lord himself must be tired of hearing me call him every time I read.

Just trust me when I say that Jennifer is a freaking genius and you should read every single book of hers. Oh! And Brave is pure perfection, Tink is best friend material, Ivy is a f*cking badass and Ren should marry me.

Every single character has so much more to give us so let's just wait for the next work Jennifer gives us and it will surely be as awesome and good as Brave was.

The Problem with Forever by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Published date: 17th May, 2016
Published by: Harlequin Teen
Genres: Young Adult, Romance, Fiction

Pages: 480

Rating: 5*
Synopsis: For some people, silence is a weapon. For Mallory “Mouse” Dodge, it’s a shield. Growing up, she learned that the best way to survive was to say nothing. And even though it’s been four years since her nightmare ended, she’s beginning to worry that the fear that holds her back will last a lifetime.

Now, after years of homeschooling with loving adoptive parents, Mallory must face a new milestone—spending her senior year at public high school. But of all the terrifying and exhilarating scenarios she’s imagined, there’s one she never dreamed of—that she’d run into Rider Stark, the friend and protector she hasn’t seen since childhood, on her very first day.

It doesn’t take long for Mallory to realize that the connection she shared with Rider never really faded. Yet the deeper their bond grows, the more it becomes apparent that she’s not the only one grappling with the lingering scars from the past. And as she watches Rider’s life spiral out of control, Mallory faces a choice between staying silent and speaking out—for the people she loves, the life she wants, and the truths that need to be heard.

Review:
*SPOILER FREE*

Once again, Jennifer L. Armentrout writes another outstanding book.
As always, she managed to create a story where you can laugh, smile with several moments, get angry, sad and cry. But most importantly is that you fall in love with every character and you desire to know more and more about every single one of them.

Since this is a spoiler free review, I won't talk about the plot (in this case, things that happened in the book).

I can pick three words that define this book:

  1. Emotional
  2. Hopeful
  3. Inspiring
The way she managed to write about such ''hard'' and emotion filled topics was impressive. Topics like drug dealing, adoption, childhood traumas, death. The story itself sounded so real, so true that when I finished reading it, I started thinking about many things in my life and those who surround me. Like it says in the book, we take things, life mainly, for granted. Nothing lasts forever.

BOOK REVIEW: Oblivion by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Oblivion by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Series: Lux (#1.5)
Published date: 1st December, 2015
Published by: Entangled Teen
Genres: Young Adult, Paranormal

Pages: 350
Format: Paperback

Rating: 5*
Synopsis: Experience the epic love story of OBSIDIAN as told by its hero, Daemon Black…

I knew the moment Katy Swartz moved in next door, there was going to be trouble. Lots of it.

And trouble’s the last thing I need, since I’m not exactly from around here. My people arrived on Earth from Lux, a planet thirteen billion light years away. Plus, if there’s one thing I know, it’s that humans can’t be trusted. We scare them. We can do things they only dream about, and honestly, we make them look weak as hell. ‘Cuz they are.

But Kat is getting to me in ways no one else has, and I can't stop myself from wanting her—or wanting to use my powers to protect her. She makes me weak, and I’m the strongest of our kind, tasked with protecting us all. So this one simple girl…she can mean the end for us. Because the Luxen have an even bigger enemy—the Arum, and I need to stay on my game.

Falling for Katy—a human—won't just place her in danger. It could get us all killed, and that’s one thing I’ll never let happen..

Review:

Daemon is perfect.

Glad to write,
DomoMin (Brigida Afonso)

KIDDING!

Back to the review.

Even though we already got to read Daemon's POV in the last Lux Series book, an entire book with ONLY Daemon's POV is something completely different.

The Lux Series is one of my favorite book series (if not the favorite one!) and to be able to read once again something from this story but in a different perspective made me so freaking happy.

It is obvious how much I loved this book. As soon as I saw that the book was coming out, I made the pre-order of it and this was the first pre-order I've made in my entire life.
Everyone loves Daemon, it's a worldwide fact.

I don't have any complaints about this book, I loved everything about it and smiled through all of it and had the same (or even worse and bigger) feels as I did when I read Obsidian.
Now, for the second time, I've finished the Lux Series and I still want more of it. Jennifer L. Armentrout has powerful writing skills that makes you get hooked in the worlds she creates, at least for me. Although I've only read this series by J. L. Armentrout, I know the other books she has released are as awesome as the Lux Series and in this case Oblivion.
Reading this book made me want to re-read the entire series once again and roll on the floor while I cry because of the feels all this story brings.

To everyone who has read the Lux Series: READ THIS BOOK!

To everyone who still hasn't read the Lux Series: READ THE SERIES AND THIS BOOK.

Who's exited for the release of this book? Surely I am! Even though that usually I'm not a big fan of a story retold in another POV, but this is Daemon Black that we're talking about. I'm not a fan of Sci-Fi books, but LUX Series ended with my life! I fell in love with this series instantly and getting to read one more more book from this series (even though it's book 1 in another point of view) make me so excited and anxious to get this beauty in my hands as soon as possible.
If you desire to get some deleted scenes that ARE NOT IN THE BOOK, make your pre-order and follow J.L Armentrout instructions in her instagram account. I made mine on BookDepository.
As soon as I get the book, I'll read it and I'll be doing a review.

Until then,

Glad to write,
DomoMin (Brigida Afonso)
